Vibe Coding an MVP: A Practical Launch Checklist

AI coding tools can help a founder explore an interface and test a product idea. Before that prototype becomes an MVP used by real customers, review what the application actually does with accounts, data and integrations. A working preview does not by itself establish that a release is ready for production.
Define what the MVP must prove
Write one workflow from the user's first visit to the result they need. For an illustrative scheduling tool, that might be creating an account, viewing availability and confirming an appointment. Freeze that journey while you inspect it. Every new generated feature increases the surface you need to understand, test and maintain.
Record included features and a later-release list. Use the startup MVP development checklist for acceptance criteria. If the problem can be tested with a responsive web app, compare that choice with native mobile in the platform guide before maintaining several clients.
Own the repository and understand deployment
Confirm which account owns the code, database and hosting. Export the repository where supported and document environment variables, migration commands and production configuration. Keep credentials out of browser code and version control. The founder should be able to grant or remove collaborator access without depending on one developer's personal account.
Review third-party dependencies and licenses. Establish a reproducible setup for another developer. If a preview platform supplies authentication or storage, identify how production uses those services and what happens when its plan or limits change.
Test permissions with more than one account
Use two ordinary test users and an administrator. Try reading or changing another user's records through direct API requests, not only the interface. Confirm that the backend enforces access rules even when a hidden button is bypassed. Test sign-out, password reset, expired sessions and invitations where those are part of the scope.
For uploads, check type and size constraints and where files are stored. For a generated admin screen, verify the server-side role checks. The OWASP Top Ten is a starting reference for application security review; a checklist is not a certification.
Exercise payment and integration failures
Test declined payments, delayed webhooks, provider downtime and retries. An interface success message must follow confirmed application success. Repeated webhook delivery or a browser refresh should not create duplicate orders or subscriptions. Use provider test environments and synthetic data until the workflow has been checked.
Make recovery part of the release
- Run critical-path tests on a production-like staging environment.
- Back up the database and check how restoration works.
- Record errors without logging passwords or unnecessary personal details.
- Set service limits and billing alerts.
- Document rollback, support ownership and incident contact details.
A launch review should leave a prioritized issue list: what blocks release, what can be fixed afterward and which prototype assumptions must be replaced. Some parts may be reusable; others may need rebuilding. Decide from evidence rather than automatically discarding all generated code.
When to bring in an engineering team
If you cannot explain the data model, access rules or deployment, get those reviewed before accepting live customer data. Kraydl's vibe-coded app audit and launch service starts with the repository, working preview, intended workflow and known issues. An assessment defines the repair or rebuild scope; it does not promise every prototype can be launched unchanged.
Compare a focused repair sprint with a complete release in the MVP cost guide. Keep usage fees, hosting and maintenance separate from the build proposal.
